The Menomonee Falls Symphony caps off its 2025-26 season with a performance of Schubert's Symphony 8, "Unfinished". One of the pioneering works of the Romantic era, "Unfinished" includes memorable melodies and textures that make it an popular part of today's orchestral repertoire, even two centuries on. It is called the "Unfinished" because, although It had been finished in piano form, Schubert had not completed the the full score before his death at the age of 31. A close colleague completed the orchestration.
Just as musically exciting is the performance of another Romantic Era masterpiece, French composer Georges Bizet's L'Arlésienne, two suites of music performed incidental to a dramatic play of the same name. The play itself long ago faded into history, but the music endures as a delicious taste of late 19th century French culture.
We’re also excited to welcome talented local High School Honor Students for a special Side‑by‑Side performance of Schubert’s Symphony No. 8. It’s a wonderful celebration of music, community, and the next generation of musicians.
